Instructional Strategies
that Make a Difference in Learning
Based
on the meta-analysis of best practices, our standards-based training programs
provide educators with the most advanced knowledge of the best practices
in the education field. Not only
do
our programs offer a comprehensive, cross-curricular approach to the teaching
practices that have the highest effect on student learning, but they also
provide the research to show teachers why the practices work.
Our trainings include newspaper formats, online formats, and onsite workshops. Educators are provided the most up-to-date practices in the field, along with examples across curriculum areas for implementing the ideas. In addition, educators can earn professional development credits while they learn.
Current Trainings and Formats Include...
Power Tools for Teaching Vocabulary - Developed by national award winning author Dr. Donna Walker Tileston in cooperation with Caprock Press, this training is delivered in an eight-page, colorful newspaper format. 85% of all state tests are based on vocabulary. This convenient training offers educators proven instructional strategies for teaching vocabulary while earning six hours of professional development credit.
Realistic Ways to Differentiate - This onsite workshop presented by Dr. Donna Walker Tileston offers educators proven strategies for differentiating and ensuring that all students within a single classroom become successful learners.
Changing Health Behaviors - This onsite workshop presented by the Healthy and Wise staff provides an overview of the Transtheoretical Model for Behavior Change. This training is for educators and health professionals that want to learn a proven behavior change model that will help them identify an individual's current health stage. Once an individual's health stage has been determined, educators and health professionals can plan an appropriate intervention to help facilitate a change in behavior that will lead to better health outcomes.
Coaches Are Educators
Students involved in athletic programs with an educational and
character development focus often perform better academically in school and have
more success later in life than non-participants. Coaches are important role
models in student-athletes’ lives and are significant factors in helping
students build character. The
values taught by good coaches include sportsmanship, citizenship, work ethic,
teamwork, respect for self and others, caring, dedication, commitment, honesty,
trustworthiness, loyalty, integrity, responsibility, fairness, and striving to
do one’s best regardless of the overall outcome. This onsite workshop will
provide the research and best practices for teaching players to be winners on
and off the field.
